Africa is, after all, one of the most energy insecure regions in the world, says the World Economic Forum. Over 60% of the population of sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to electricity, simply because the grid doesn’t reach to where they live. This hampers their wellbeing but also production, manufacturing and agricultural businesses, which are often located in remote areas. The WEF states that energy insecurity and unstable access to electricity is a key obstacle to economic growth.
